An Introduction
The report below indicates the excellent progress the school has made with PE provision both in and out of school this year. We are always striving to increase provision for out of school activities and all our staff run at least one out of school club free of charge, however to cater for the needs of all pupils they are not all sports clubs. In a school this size (over 400 pupils!) it is challenging to ensure every child has access to a club of their choice but as you can see below we are working with other agencies to meet this challenge.

Curriculum Provision
The subject provision has been completely developed and has been identified as an area within the School Development Plan. Significant changes to the timetable have been made to allow the subject areas to be 'blocked' as recommended by Norfolk County Council PE Advisory Team. This means that the year groups no longer use our sports hall on mass but instead share our allocated time there evenly in classes. Each class now has either Mrs Thompson or Mrs Lacey-Edwards take one of the two weekly PE lessons with the class teacher delivering the other. Both the lessons in a week cover the same element of the PE curriculum (blocking), with the class teacher and either JT or TLE working together to ensure progression, attainment and individually planned lessons. JT is encouraging staff to become more confident in order to personalise the lessons, try new ideas and steer away from previously used schemes of work.

Subject: Multiskills Festival last week
Dear Sir/Madam,
Last week, the children in our Year 2 classes attended a Multiskills Festival at Easton College. We had a brilliant morning, working round the circuit of activities and trying out new skills. I wanted to say that the Year 6 students from Avenue Junior School were a brilliant help. They were extremely patient with our youngsters and were excellent role models for them. Some of our children had disabilities (we have a group of Deaf children) and your Year 6 students were fantastic at making the activities accessible for all of them. You should be very proud.
Thanks to you all for your hard work.
Chrystal Widdeson (PE Subject Leader, Colman Infant School)
